I’m taking part in the One Million Step Challenge to support people affected by diabetes. My father Graeme, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in his late 30’s and had a huge battle with it. Between his sight deteriorating to problems with his skin. My father was always researching new medicines to tackle it. My father would inject insulin daily and after a while his skin would get sore and firm and he would have to find new places to inject. Diabetes got my father down. Diet was a huge struggle as he always enjoyed a sugary tea or marmalade on his toast. Diabetes made my father ill and unfortunately he is no longer with us now. My father passed away at the young age of 56 in 2016. There are 4.7 million people living with diabetes in the UK, the complications of which lead to over 500 premature deaths every week. So, I’m stepping towards a healthier me, and also all a better future for people living with diabetes. Support my challenge by hitting the donate button on my profile page.
