It’s a three‑month challenge running from 1 July to 30 September every year, where you choose a stepping goal that suits you:

• 500,000 steps
• 1 million steps
• 1.7 million steps

You can take your steps anywhere - your local park, your garden, your living room, or on your daily commute.
Every step you take helps support people affected by diabetes.

You can join at any time, but joining later means fewer days to reach your goal.

The registrations for the One Million Step Challenge 2027 will open in Spring before April 2027. You can register your interest by submitting your email address and we will let you know when registrations are open: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/forms/onemillionstep

The longer days and better weather make getting your steps in a little easier.

The challenge has run in the summer since 2016, and many returning steppers plan their year around it.

Summer also gives you the perfect three‑month window to build a positive stepping habit.

Yes, this is a fundraising challenge and every penny raised funds vital research and supports those living with diabetes.

Most people use their online page to collect donations, but you can also fundraise offline if you prefer.

Yes. A parent or guardian will need to register on their behalf.

Each day during the challenge has a fun photo theme to help keep your walks interesting.

You’ll find the list of themes in the Resources section when you’re logged in. This will be available from June 2027.

Your profile page is your main challenge dashboard. It’s where you can:

• track your steps
• see your fundraising total
• collect badges
• share photos and updates
• personalise your story
• easily share your page with friends and family

You can find it by logging in and selecting My Page.

To update your address:

1. Log in at www.justgiving.com using the same log in details
2. Click your name
3. Go to Personal details
4. Update your address and save

To update your email address:

1. Log in to your challenge page
2. Go to Edit Page → Account
3. Update your email and save

1. Log in
2. Click on your photo in the bottom left corner to open the floating navigation menu
3. Go to Edit Page
4. Add the amount under Total Offline Amount

This updates your total but offline donations do not appear individually.

Only add amounts you will be sending to Diabetes UK.

You can:

1. Donate it to your profile page (the easiest option)
2. Send a cheque made payable to Diabetes UK
3. Pay by phone: call 0345 123 2399 (Mon - Fri, 9am - 6pm) mentioning this is towards your One Million Step Challenge.

Funds must be received by 31 October 2026 to qualify for rewards.

Rewards are sent automatically if you have opted in to rewards during the registration form. If you're not sure you can opt in or out at any time in Edit your page → Updates.

T-shirts and water bottles are sent out every 2 weeks to those who have reached the fundraising milestones. Medals are sent out from September to celebrate all you have achieved.
If yours hasn’t arrived after three weeks, email onemillionsteps@diabetes.org.uk.
We only send out reward items to addresses within the UK.

These ideas work well:

• make the first donation yourself
• ask friends or family to get you started
• share your page regularly (7 - 11 times)
• post updates about your progress
• use the photo themes for fun content

Go to Latest Updates on your page and select the Donations filter. Offline donations won't appear here but will be added to your total.

By cancelling your page, you’ll help us get a more accurate picture of how many people are participating. This helps us plan future events more effectively and ensure our resources are used in the best possible way.

2. Scroll down to Latest Updates
3. Select Add your steps.
4. Enter your total and save

If the "Add your steps" button doesn’t appear, check for a pop‑up blocker and make sure you are logged in.

You can use any step counter:

• smartphone
• smartwatch
• pedometer

And then add your steps, as per the instructions above.

Yes.
Go to Edit your page and choose between:

• 500,000
• 1,000,000
• 1,700,000 steps

You can change your target any time.
And remember - every step you take counts.

Yes.
Find the entry in Latest Updates and select Delete this activity.
If this doesn't appear, make sure you are logged in.

No, unfortunately not.
You can use them to track your steps, but you'll need to add your totals manually.

Try:

1. Refreshing the page
2. Waiting 10 minutes
3. Clearing your browser cache
4. Trying another device or browser
5. Making sure you are logged in

If it still isn’t right, email help@justgiving.com.

Online donations normally appear straight away.
If one is missing:

• Check Latest Updates → Donations
• Confirm the donor received a confirmation email

Then email help@justgiving.com with the donor’s name, amount and date.

Offline donations don’t appear individually.

You can:

• create or join a team during registration
• or later via Edit Page → Teams

Share your team name so others can find it easily.
Everyone needs to register individually first.

Share your team name or your team page link. They will need to create their own page to join your team.
If someone is already registered, they can join through Edit Page → Team.

Try:

1. Refreshing the page
2. Waiting a few minutes
3. Clearing your browser cache
4. Checking JustGiving → Fundraising to confirm the team exists

If the team isn’t listed there, it needs to be created again. If you are having problems creating a team, please contact: help@justgiving.com.

Leaving a team
Go to Edit Page → Teams → Leave Team.

Team Captains must request a new captain before leaving (email: help@justgiving.com).

Deleting a team
Only the Team Captain can delete a team on JustGiving → Fundraising → Edit → Settings → Delete team.
Allow up to 24 hours for it to disappear.

Removing a team member
Captains can remove members via JustGiving → Edit Team → Members → Unlink.

• Donations to individual pages count toward each member's personal rewards.
• Donations cannot be made to the team page. The total that appears is simply a total from individual pages.
