My story

I’m taking on the Diabetes UK One Million Step Challenge this summer to support the 5 million people in the UK living with diabetes — including myself.

I live with pancreatitis‑related diabetes (Type 3c), a form of diabetes caused by physical damage to the pancreas. Type 3c means my pancreas can no longer produce the insulin my body needs, so I’m insulin‑dependent every single day. It’s a condition many people have never heard of, and raising awareness is a huge part of why I’m stepping up.

Every two minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes UK works tirelessly to fund life‑changing research, improve treatments, and support people to live better with the condition — but they can only do it with our help.

This challenge is personal. It’s about shining a light on diabetes in all its forms, including lesser‑known types like mine, and raising vital funds for the UK’s leading diabetes charity.

I’m not doing it alone. I’m walking alongside my husband, Stephen, who has been endlessly supportive as we’ve navigated my diagnosis and its unexpected challenges together. His encouragement means the world, and taking on this challenge as a team makes it even more meaningful.

No matter the amount, your donation will make a real difference. If you’re able to support us, thank you — it truly helps.
